Sankoh Golf Club Japan Course will once again take on the challenge of hosting a major tournament. ◆◆◆2022 87th Japan Open Championship Course◆◆◆ ◆◆◆2027 37th Japan Senior Open Championship Scheduled◆◆◆ Opened on November 25, 1990, this course is a rolling hills-type golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, renowned as one of the world's greatest golfers. The course was designed during the period when Nicklaus won the Masters at age 46 in 1986, and its layout represents the culmination of his design philosophy, making it truly exceptional. The course is also famous as a venue for major domestic tournaments including the "Suntory Ladies Open" and the "Japan Professional Golf Senior Championship Tournament." This is a captivating course with challenging, diverse technical requirements on every hole, and the greens—meticulously crafted by Jack Nicklaus—are designed to provide the ultimate putting experience. Furthermore, when the club opened, world-renowned figures such as fashion designer Hideaka Mori and Takeaki Kaneda as overall supervisor were appointed, resulting in elegant, prestigious facilities including a clubhouse and comprehensive amenities. Among all 18 holes, the signature hole is the beautiful par-3 13th with a water carry downhill shot reminiscent of Augusta National Golf Club, host of the Masters Tournament. Additionally, the 14th, a relatively straight long hole with a gentle uphill grade, offers birdie opportunities and two-shot greens possibilities. The key is aiming for the center of the fairway on both the first and second shots while keeping the mounds and depressions of the hole in mind. For long hitters, the 14th hole offers birdie potential, where the crucial factor is successfully navigating the three bunkers positioned in the center of the fairway. Clearing the large bunker extending to the right side of the green requires approximately 230 yards of carry, making club selection the decisive factor. By train, it is approximately 15 minutes by taxi from Shin-Sanda Station on the JR Takarazuka Line/Fukuchiyama Line.
