Tom Watson Golf Course is a seaside course that opened on July 30, 1993, where you can enjoy a tropical resort atmosphere unique to Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture. Designed and supervised by the famous PGA star player Tom Watson himself, it is a public course bearing his name. By car, it takes approximately 24 minutes from Miyazaki IC via the Miyazaki Expressway and Hitotsuha toll road. By train, it takes approximately 18 minutes by taxi from Miyazaki Station on the JR Nippon Line. The entire 18-hole course, exceeding 7,000 yards total distance with relatively flat terrain, features beautiful layout with abundant green black pine forest, with each hole separated by pine trees. Fairway cart access is available, allowing comfortable play even for first-time golfers. The outward course begins with a PAR 5 long hole, followed by dramatic strategic holes with water carries and doglegs. In particular, hole 7, a long hole with pine trees jutting out into the fairway, requires aiming down the center on the tee shot, with a prudent approach aiming for the center or left of the green while avoiding the large bunker on the right side. Hole 2, the near-pin recommended hole, is a short hole where an albatross is possible. As it's on the coastline, reading the sea wind is key to scoring. The inward course features the "Phoenix Seagaia Ocean Tower" hotel prominently ahead. Hole 11, where the tee shot aims toward the hotel, is one of the signature holes. The spacious clubhouse with high ceilings features lounges and wooden decks for dining and parties. On the first floor is the "Ariga-en Golf" outlet shop, Kyushu's first location.
