Mie Country Club in Komono Town, Mie County, Mie Prefecture is a hilly course where players can enjoy bold yet elegant play while appreciating the majestic Suzuka Mountain foothills. Opened in October 1960 by designer Yotoku Yasuda, the club boasts tradition and history spanning approximately half a century. All 18 holes feature pronounced undulations that take advantage of natural terrain, with creeks and visually deceptive trees strategically positioned to create strategic challenges. The distinctive feature is the greens, often called "impregnable" due to optical illusions they create, offering enjoyment even after multiple plays. Meanwhile, relatively wide fairways provide accessibility for beginners and lady players to enjoy the course comfortably. Two practice greens are fully equipped near the out start, with a bunker practice area and a 220-yard, 27-bay driving range, providing excellent resources for score improvement. The renowned 12th hole, nicknamed "Hyakusanjuko," is recommended as a long-drive hole. With approximately 30 yards of elevation gain beyond the 100-yard marker, club selection must account for additional yardage. The daring tee shot on the 9th hole, where the second shot requires clearing water, also requires prudent decision-making. The 15th hole, offering panoramic views from above, is a formidable hole where the approach shot is decisive. As the ball rolls deep when aiming directly at the green, using one club less and attacking before the pin becomes the secret to scoring.
