Gifu Motosu Country Club

Gifu Motosu Country Club is a golf course spread across hilly terrain in Motosu City, Gifu Prefecture, and opened in April 1975. Within a 10-minute drive is the hot spring resort town of Yagimi Onsen, where you can also enjoy open-air baths. The course features all 18 holes with high strategic value, with natural topography skillfully incorporated. The fairways utilize overseeding, allowing play on vibrant green turf even in winter, which is one of the major attractions. While the overall course distance is a relatively short 6,241 yards, the abundance of elevated greens and clever use of elevation changes in the course design demand accurate shot-making. Water hazards such as creeks and ponds are featured on holes 6 and 12, creating a tricky layout that invites repeated challenges. The signature hole is the 9th, a long hole exceeding 500 yards, where the green cannot be seen from the third shot position due to being too low, making it helpful to confirm the green's location from the second shot position for scoring. On the 17th, a valley-crossing par 3, it is advisable to calculate the wind and aim a shot slightly toward green-over to avoid the risk of the ball rolling to the bottom of the valley. During play, smooth rounds can be enjoyed by using 5-seater self-drive carts. The golf course is equipped with a 120-yard 5-bay driving range, as well as approach practice and bunker practice facilities, making it ideal for thorough warm-up before heading to the course. For access by car, it is approximately 35 km from Gifu-Hashima IC and Ogaki IC on the Meishin Expressway, and approximately 15 minutes from Yamakita IC and Motosu IC on the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway. By train, it is convenient to take a taxi after getting off at Gifu Station or Hozumi Station on the JR Tokaido Main Line.
