Funayama Golf Club

Funayama Golf Club in Iwade, Wakayama Prefecture is a mountain course that opened in November 1974, situated on Funayama where you can enjoy spectacular scenery around the Kino River with its gently flowing clear waters. Since its opening, the trees such as pines and cherry blossoms have been naturally preserved, and you can experience the beautiful seasonal charm throughout the year. All 18 holes, with a total distance of 3,529 yards, are relatively short but strategically rich, offering a genuine challenge for both beginners and advanced players. The signature hole is the S-shaped 12th hole, the longest on the course, featuring a 160-yard carry over a valley as the decisive shot. A safe strategy is to aim for bogey, with approach shots being most effective from the front of the green. Additionally, the par 3 2nd hole is a challenging hole with a large pond carry-over followed by bunkers. The par 4 8th hole features fairway bunkers requiring approximately 180-yard carry to clear successfully. The green is large but surrounded by five bunkers, and effective scoring comes from approach shots utilizing your strengths in angle and distance. By car, access times are approximately 25 minutes from Sennan IC on the Hanwa Expressway, approximately 35 minutes from Izumi-Sano Minami IC on the Hanshin Bay Bridge Line, and approximately 30 minutes from Wakayama IC on the Hanwa Expressway.
