Zao Country Club opened in September 1961 as Tohoku's first 18-hole golf course. It is known for its design by Tokuyuki Miyoshi, who achieved the pinnacle of amateur golf. Situated on the southwestern slopes of Mount Zao, the course features handcrafted character that takes advantage of the rolling hills and wooded terrain.
