Olympic Staff Ashikaga Golf Course, located in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture, is a full-fledged championship course designed by Jack Nicklaus, acclaimed as the greatest professional golfer of the 20th century, and his son Jackie. The course adopts a "stadium-style" layout where most holes are visible from the clubhouse, allowing golfers of all levels to genuinely enjoy the game and experience the satisfaction of successful play through its strategic design and unique aesthetic sensibility. Exceeding 7,000 yards in length, the course features undulating fairways with strategically placed water hazards and bunkers, creating thrilling challenges throughout. Among notable holes, the 17th is a signature par-3 over water, where a large pond covering the left half of the fairway creates significant pressure and optical illusions. The key to conquering this hole is to consider wind direction and select one club higher than usual. The 18th, a lengthy par-4, presents another major challenge where driving distance off the tee is crucial. Since the second shot plays slightly uphill, selecting one club higher than the actual yardage will lead to better scoring.
